Harmony with character and coast.
The client’s concept was to find harmony between their home, the natural coastline, and local character. The process resulted in an elevated design of geometric forms, softened by familiar materials.
A free flow of light and living.
A dedicated focus on scale and form led to the development of two distinct spaces connected by a flat roof and large windows, creating a free flow of light and the movements of daily life. From office spaces to sleep and living quarters, the marsh and ocean sweep across the home, coaxing visitors to a screened porch, the deck, and the beach itself. Outside and inside intertwine.
Lasting integrity.
Simple but reliable materials like douglas fir and white oak create a natural interior. Outside, cedar siding and metal roofing mingle with the landscape and promise durability throughout the years. The areas below the home become an extension of the living quarters above. Each decision makes for a lingering embrace of space.
