A cottage reimagined.

Cottage Farms was a unique renovation to a classic early 1900s house on Cape Elizabeth where the architect was the client. The challenge of this project was to keep the design respectful to the home’s history while modernizing and breathing new life into it. This included keeping it masculine enough for two men while making it soft enough to be livable.

Embracing color and comfort.

The only rule set for the design was that existing raw wood had to remain unpainted and everything else was up for grabs. The building systems were renewed and the kitchen and bathrooms re-envisioned. Dark hues reminiscent of deep water, intense jewels, and twilight skies were heavily employed throughout the house in furniture, wallpaper, paint, and artwork. The result was an elevated style leaning into the comfort of home.
